Budget
The state constitution requires the Governor to submit a budget annually for the coming fiscal year, which begins on July 1. The General Assembly may alter the proposed budget, but the Governor may veto individual appropriations passed by the Assembly. The Governor may also reduce individual appropriations, but may not increase them. The budget, as well as the General Fund, include state and federal funds.
Note: Appropriation amounts for the 2023-2024 fiscal
year will change following the enactment of a final budget.
